Final Project Rationale

Photo 1-

Why-
I chose to shoot my first image in front of the fire place because in the beginning of the story the narrator is sitting in their arm chair by the fire. I put a table next to the chair and loaded it with liquor bottles and other spirits. I wanted my model to look very content and slightly drunk and I think the model did a good job of doing that.

How-
I found the story to be quite dark and dreary so I tried to set the mood in the first image. I made the image seem very warm and old time feeling. I used very low lighting and relied on a christmas tree and fire to provide the main source of lighting.

Critique-
I barely touched this picture in post, if at all. I absolutely like this image the best of the whole series.

Photo 2-

Why-
This image is the part of the story when the Angel first appears.I decided to use a character that parents had sitting around their house for my Angel of the Odd because he looks very odd, and instead of just using bottles as the angel i wanted it to have a recognizable face. I used the bottles because they are a key part of the story and i didnt want to leave it out.

How-
This image is pretty straight forward. I just shot it real tight from about a foot off the ground. I had to tie the character to a chair and then i had my model hold the bottles.

Critique-
I think that I did a pretty good job of putting a face to a character that is really hard to show.

Photo 3-

Why-
In this image I wanted to show the scene of the house being on fire.I thought that using a model house was the best way that I could show a house being on fire without actually lighting anyhting on fire.

How-
I used a model house and a plexiglass case that I set up in front of the fireplace to simulate a house on fire. I shot from about 12 inches away and didn't use many external lighting sources.

Critique-
I think that this photo turned out great. I had never tried to shoot fire before and it was kind of a daunting task, but I am pleased with how this image turned out.

Photo 4-

Why-
I was trying to show the narrator leaving out the window and climbing down the ladder to escape the fire. I shot up from the ground on this image to make it seem like the model is coming down towards the camera and the ground.

How-
I had to lay down on the ground for this image. I wasnt able to use a tripod because of the awkward setup. I used the old fashioned ladder that parents have to give more of a period feel to the image.

Photo 5-

Why-
I wanted to show the scene when the narrator gets something stuck in their eye and has to look away from their love interest and then gets turned down because of it.

How-
I shot real tight with this photo to get right in on the emotion of the model. I positioned the model in front of a window with a light shade drawn over to diffuse the light. In the back ground of the shot I put a tree to give the feeling of being outside.

Photo 6-

Why-
This photo is the scene where the narrator runs off a cliff and has to grab the rope from the balloon. I used rope to keep the validity of the story.

How-
Another real shot, since I couldn't get a hold of hot air balloon. I shot this image on a 2nd story balcony to make it seem like we were high in the air.

Photo 7-

Why-
This image is the final scene of the story for me. It is when the narrator falls from the sky onto their house and their are bottles and ashes everywhere. I had the model where short-shorts so that they would appear naked since the character takes off all their clothes a couple scenes back.

How-
I shot this image from above and draped rope over the models legs to make it look like they fell and the rope landed on them.
