Project 6 Rationale
Why-
Since everyone in the class was shooting at the same location I decided I wanted my image to be a little bit different than most people in the class. So instead of shooting the building from the front I was trying a bunch of different angles and locations around the buildings. The one that I ended up liking the very most is the image of the side of the building with another building far off in the background.
How-
In order to get a good HDR you have to use the bracketing technique, which basically means that you shoot the image at proper exposure and then you shoot the same image one stop up and down in order to get the details in the shadows and highlights that give the HDR look. So that is basically how I shot this image. I opted to only do 3 images instead of the five.
Critique-
After trying to merge my images my one regret is that I didn't shoot 5 images instead of only 3. But other than that I am very pleased with the outcome of the image.

Project 5 Rationale
Why-
I chose to do Velocity footwear because I thought that it would be a good product to use in both of these very different magazines. I also thought that I could show motion within my image and still get the message of the product across within the ad. I had my models where nice clothes and athletic shoes to play into the fact that readers of these magazines like the upper-class nice clothes, and also the fact that they like to stay fit and exercise so they can keep wearing the nice clothes. I chose to get a background blur with the model mostly in focus to show that these shoes let you run fast and get a good workout.
How-
In order to get the shots that I had seen in my head I set the shutter speed to a slower setting so that when I panned with the camera on the tripod it would blur the background and keep my subject mostly in focus. I thought that the effect worked pretty well in capturing the motion of my subjects. For both of the images I took the models to different nature heavy areas to give the images a more contrasting look. Since both the models were dressed up it contrasted the outdoors/exercise feel with the classy nice clothing feel.
Critique-
Over all I thought the images turned out real good. The blurred background really shows the motion that I was going for. I also really like the colors in both shots. Shooting in the fall offers many beautiful colored backdrops for images. The one thing that I wish could have been better is that fact that the subjects are a little too blurred on some of their body parts. But the argument could be made that this enhances the motion aspect and makes them look like they are really going very fast with these Velocity brand running shoes. So overall I was quite pleased with both images.
